"I don't buy pork any more!"
It's
the remark we get from our new customers, and this is what changes
their mind.
Commercial
pork has no chance - torn from it's mother too young (stress affects
meat quality) , incarcerated in stifling crowded pens, fed on boring,
unchanging food designed solely to put on weight fast, and killed so
young the meat is still flaccid from lack of muscle, with a thin
rubbery skin incapable of making real crackling.
Fattening
pigs are free range throughout their lives, which is six months
minimum, allowing for proper muscle and tissue build-up and the all
important skin, which produces the "snap in your fingers" crackling you
thought a forgotten dream.
We
are particularly sensitive to the needs of allergy sufferers - our pigs
receive no milk products whatsoever and very little wheat gluten in
their feed. Naturally we feed neither animal protein, growth promotors
nor routine antibiotics, and our feed is GM free, so far as we know.
Pork
is available from the Bell & Birdtable throughout the year and
our minimum order is a pack of two chops!
