Our
smallholding has featured in a number of national newspapers such as
the Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Financial Times and Sunday Express.
We
have also been featured on television on a number of occasions.
I
was interviewed on our local radio station "Somerset Sound" on the
morning of the tomato tasting.
The
commercial establishments we have occasionally been persuaded to supply
include the Michelin starred Castle Hotel in Taunton, Somerset, where
the chef, Phil Vickery (now of TV fame) was quoted as follows, "I have
used Anne's pork now for over three years and have always found it to
be superb, tasty, succulent and extremely moist with proper crackling."
In
September 2003 a film crew from Carlton TV spent a day filming at The
Bell & Birdtable and the programme was broadcast in October. It
featured just about everything on the smallholding, especially the
tomatoes in a featured part of Country Lives.
Rick
Stein's Guide to the Food Heroes of Britain features us on page 214,
mentioning the tomatoes and rare breed pork.
On
August 3rd 2009 Anne again appeared on television. The program was
BBC2's "What to Eat Now" with Valentine Warner and featured our range
of 50+ tomato varieties. The 10 minute section involved a tomato
tasting and a pizza cooking demonstration.
